Marilyn Cooney Live

My next gigs!

Marilyn Cooney - Singer/Pianist/Songwriter

My life began with family singalongs, my father on piano and accordion.  My love affair with the piano began the moment Dad placed my small fingers in C major position and has never stopped!  So after many years as a high school English teacher, I became a professional musician. I love being part of the San Francisco Bay Area music community, working with such talented people as Kathy Holly, Lua Hadar, Linda Kosut, Barry Lloyd, Tim Heitman, Joe Magdalena, Rita Beach, Dave Austin, on and on.

For the past fifteen years I have been privileged to be a part of the Supper Club Six, produced by Kathy Holly, at the Villa d'Este Restaurant in San Francisco.  During the pandemic, we continued doing free shows on Zoom first Monday of every month.    I am thrilled that we are resuming live shows with an event at the Boulevard Cafe on October 31 (See Calendar Page.)

I have so enjoyed performing in many other Bay Area music venues, such as The Sausalito Cruising Club, Martuni's, Society Cabaret, The Purple Onion, Max's of Burlingame, and many more.  I entertained  many guests at the beautiful Zingari Lounge for several years, and the SF Bistro Grill in San Francisco's  Noe Valley.  I have created and performed many themed shows for the Peninsula Jewish Community Center in Foster City...everything from Favorites from the Movies to Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf:  A Friendship.

I am thrilled to perform regularly employed at a number of retirement communities and nursing homes, such as The Forum, The Palo Alto Vi, the The Cadence of Millbrae, The Magnolia of Millbrae, The Trousdale, The Sterling Court, and the Osher Institute for Lifelong Learning.  It is a great joy and privilege to bring music to the residents and staff.  My husband and I perform duet shows at private parties, and in senior communities.   (See Calendar.)

John is a member of the San Francisco Banjo Band, which performs every first Saturday at Molloy's Tavern in Colma.  Joyful and fun.

On the Music tab for  this website you will find tracks from the two albums I recorded:

On Anything Can Happen in a Life I am singing all songs for which I wrote the words and the music, derived mostly from my own experience.  On Notes of Nostalgia, I am singing some of my favorite standards and international songs.  The great Barry Lloyd is my accompanist on both of these albums.

Now that we are have five COVID vaccinations, we are delighted to be performing live once again!!!
